Talkntalk Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I use TalkNTalk?
Simply dial the access number for the country you wish to dial. Enter your phone number including full international code when prompted for fantastic savings.
How do I sign up for your service?
There’s no need to sign up, no obligations, no contracts, no prepayments and NO HASSLE!
Why am I unable to dial certain access numbers?
The access numbers are listed for BT landlines. Other phone providers (e.g. Onetel) may not enable calls to the access number listed. You will need to call your relevant phone bill provider for further information.
Are there any administration, subscription or other ‘hidden’ costs?
No. All you pay is the low call rate to your country.
How much does a call to my country cost?
Each country is assigned an access number. This access number dictates the cost of your call. For example calls to Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada are all obtained using the access number 0844 400 2020 at a flat rate of 1p a minute at all times. A 10 minute call would cost you 10p, it’s that simple!

How are my calls billed?
Calls are charged by your existing phone provider, we do NOT charge you. The access number will appear on your phonebill. For example, if you made a 10 minute call to Australia your bill will show access number 0844 400 2020 for 10 minutes with a total cost of 10 pence. The number for Australia will not appear on your phonebill.
Are there peak and off-peak rates?
No. You receive the same fantastic rates at any time of the day!
I am a NTL or Telewest customer, can I still use TalkNTalk?
Of course but bear in mind all our rates are based on calls from a BT landline. Please check with you phone provider to ensure there are no surcharges involved for calling the access numbers.
When do call charges take effect?
Billing starts on connection to the access number and terminates at the end of the call. For this reason, be sure to hang up promptly if the destination number is engaged or otherwise unavailable.
TalkNTalk has overcharged me!
This is impossible. We do not charge you. BT (or your other phone provider) charges you for the call to the access number.
How do I contact customer services?
Call 0871 665 7733 or send an e-mail to info@talkntalk.co.uk. We will answer/respond to all queries during regular office hours. (Mon-Fri 9-5.30)
When I ring someone abroad will they be charged for the call as well?
In the vast majority of cases, the person receiving a call will never be charged. Charges will apply if the person is using a mobile which does not originate from that country (e.g. using a UK mobile to receive calls whilst in France). These are more commonly referred to as roaming charges.
I was told that calls to premium rate numbers are very expensive.
The term premium rate refers to any call which costs between 10p to £1.50 per minute. Whether this provides value for money depends on the service offered and the customer’s expectations. With regards to the service offered by TalkNTalk, we’re sure you’ll agree that this service provides outstanding value for money.
How much can I save using TalkNTalk instead of BT or my other phone provider?
This will depend on the country you call and at the time of day. We’re confident that you’ll make huge savings using TalkNTalk in place of your phone provider. We constantly review competitor rates to ensure we keep your call charges to a minimum.
I have received my telephone bill and been charged the full international rate for my call. Why is this?
Unfortunately, you would have dialled the international number directly without using our access number. Ensure you always dial the access number beforehand to take advantage of the huge savings that we offer.
Do prices include VAT?
Yes. There are no hidden or extra charges.
Can I use TalkNTalk access numbers abroad?
No, TalkNTalk access numbers can only be used within the UK.
